Clearly, with the Ram Rebel Pickup Truck, Dodge-Ram did his homework to design a perfect pickup truck for the Tacoma area and Pacific Northwest Lifestyle.

No matter if you are typical fishing Outdoor’s man or the Active Sportsman, the 2015 Ram Rebel will hit its mark and will gain a lot of friends. During my one week Video Review in a REBEL, I had to return to the Tacoma Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram dealership twice to swap the Ram Rebel Pickup Truck. No, not because of any warning lights in the special designed dashboard or because of a flat tire one of the  33-inch-tall 285/70 Toyo Open Country A/T tires mounted onto 17 inches has encountered. I simply had to return because those Ram Rebel Pickup Trucks are selling like hot cakes. So in the provided Video footage below, you’ll notice I started first out with a silver Ram Rebel and end with a black Ram 1500 Rebel. Both are looking tremendous.

When you see the Ram Rebel Pickup the first time – you know this one is different

Right in your face! This is what you feel when seeing the first time the front grille of the Rebel. Shyness is not an option, when seeing the branding in three bold letter screaming R A M. Forget about the chrome cross-hair grille with the silhouette of a Ram’s head, instead experience a blacked-out grille housing the centered letters…again… R A M.

I had the pleasure to test out the 5.7 V8 Hemi with the 4×4 wheel drive on demand option. This 8-cylinder unit was able to provide me with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque – nothing special or more juicy than the regular Ram 1500 truck. As of the payload and tow capacity, almost identical specs here. 1530-pound payload for the Ram Rebel Pickup (same as it’s cousin – the regular Ram 1500) 10,130-pound tow capacity, just 20 pounds less than any comparable non-Rebel. With EPA fuel-economy stats of 15 mpg city and 21 highway which equals to a combined of 17 mpg, another 100% match.

The Ram Rebel Pickup Interior Makeover – and specifications

The Ram Rebel Pickup won’t disappoint Tacoma drivers

I really liked the interior. With the charcoal roof liner you are immediately noticing the hint of sportiness. This becomes even more obvious when noticing the red accent bezels artfully placed around the dashboard, dials and console. To make this design scheme a home-run, the designer decided to pep up the seats with a refreshing two-tone black cloth/charcoal-red leather. Along the door panels. dashboard and middle console stitching in the color combination gray/red completing the feel of a fresh, sporty and sophisticated interior. Ah, and don’t forget the REBEL embroidering on the leather portion of the front seats as well as the “tire tread” embossed treatment of the seat inlays. Tasteful!

How did it rank:

I decided on 4-stars for the Rebel. For the appearance I would give it a “5-star VJ approved” but because of the lack of amenities like key-less entry and go (as I could experience in my test drive review for the 2016 Ram 2500 HD) and  more importantly the question “Why did Ram not juice up the horsepower and torque a tiny bit more” to make it a real rebel among the street trucks out there in the concrete jungle of our cities? I would have loved to see the Ram Rebel Pickup going face-to-face with Ford’s Raptor. But with the Ram specifications as they are showing right now I actually don’t want to see it. All in all, the Rebel is a beauty and (from the pure appearance perspective) a Pickup Truck which people on the street will turn heads for. Make sure you will roll down the windows and offer the pedestrians a look inside the beautiful designed cabin.

Thank you again to my friends at Tacoma Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram for let me borrowing the 2015 Ram Rebel Pickup and haul it around the Tacoma and Puyallup area here in our beautiful state of Washington.

Thank you for reading and watching, so long, good bye and

Auf Wiedersehen,

Your VJ (Volker)
