Ram and Jeep may considering a large SUV
What do you do as a car maker when you win award after award with your pickup truck line-up but you are missing out when it comes to business in capturing a new market segment – Large SUV ‘s? You possibly look into the plan to challenge the establish “boys” at Ford with their Explorer and Chevy and GMC with their large SUV ‘s Suburban and Yukon. This exactly what FCA’s CEO Sergio Marchionni suggested in an interview with Automotive News:
“I think we have a unique opportunity with renewal of the pickup line, with the power-trains we selected, to significantly increase output. We will also be exploring, as a result of that investment, some other segments.”
Marchionni will be in a good spot to experiment with a large SUV
Since Ram became it’s own division and brand, the benefit to create a Ram SUV is that another brand of FCA, speaking of Jeep, both could share components and parts easily. As I reported earlier on Tacoma Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram‘s Facebook Fan Page, Jeep is revamping it’s initiative to build an old American icon again – the Jeep Wagoneer. Don’t expect wood paneling but a large, easily 7-passenger fitting large SUV.
I think it will be interesting to see how the next couple of years will reveal designs and renderings FCA has in mind how both large SUV ‘s will look like.
